Users

The Users tab allows you to create users and add them to groups.

  1. In the Administration section , click the Security drop-down menu in the left pane.
  2. Select Users. A list of users will be displayed with their detailed information. The bottom section will display the Groups that the selected user is a Member of.

  3. To create a user:

    1. Click New in the upper left-hand corner.

    2. Enter the parameters as described in the table below.

    3. Click Create. The user will receive an email notifying that they have been added to the system and that their security settings have been defined.

  4. To add a user to a group:

    1. Select the user you want to add to a group.

    2. In the Groups section, select the group the user will be a member.

    3. Click Add.

Parameter Description
Use Active Directory

It is not mandatory to use Active Directory. You have the choice between creating a regular user where the password will be maintained directly inside Nectari or to use Active Directory where the password will be maintained in Windows.

If a domain has been configured, select it with a user from the drop-down menu to create it. Otherwise, type in the name as required in each of these categories:

  • Domain
  • User Name
  • Name
  • Email
General Role Select a Role from the drop-down list.
Default Data Model Role Select a Role from the drop-down list. The role selected at this level will be used as the default role when you authorize the user to access a specific data model.
Display Level Choose the level of authorization required to view the columns of a data model. This will be the maximum level authorized for this user.
Edit Level Select the level of authorization required to edit the columns of a data model. This will be the maximum level authorized for this user.
Language The default language used in Nectari. The user can change the language as required. The language setting is also used by the distribution module when a massive distribution is done to multiple users to generate the result in their chosen language.
Regional Settings The regional settings applied by default to this user. The user can change the regional settings if required. The regional settings are also used by the distribution module when a massive distribution is done to multiple users to generate the result in the proper settings regarding the way Decimal and Digit Grouping symbols should be displayed depending on the selected country.
View Only Select the check box to create the user as a viewer only. The Viewer Only can perform the same actions as a regular user but cannot save Views/Dashboards/Reports and Data Entries. It uses a different type of license.
Administrator Select this check box to grant this user Administrator rights. The user now counts as a second administrator, and has all the same rights.
Optional Fields Click the drop-down menu to display the optional fields. These fields will fill 5 optional fields in the Nectari database. The table name is SEC_USER_SETTINGS and the fields are SET09, SET10, SET11, SET12 and SET13.

  • To edit an existing user, click .
    Note

    After five failed login attempts, the user is locked out.

  • To unlock a user, click .
  • To deactivate a user, click .
  • To reset and send the password to a user, click . (See: Password Requirements)
  • To copy an existing user, click ( Paste New is displayed in the top menu bar to open the Edit window with all the definitions of the copied user. )
  • To delete a user, click .
    Note

    The ADMIN user cannot be deleted.
