Validating and Building an Extraction

Once your extraction (source, destination connection and their related tables) is set up, the next step is to validate the setting of an extraction, before being able to run it.

The feature will:

  • Ensure that all the tables, fields, and indexes exist in the source connections,
  • Validate all SQL queries or calculated fields,
  • Ensure that the data integrity in the destination connection is not affected (ex: change the table structure).

To validate and build an extraction:

  1. Select the extraction you want to validate and build in the list and click the Validate and Build icon.

  2. In the dialog box, perform one of the actions below.

    • For Synchronization / Consolidation and extraction types, choose an option and click Build:

      • Process only those tables for which the configuration has changed since the last validation: This option is selected by default. It will only affect modified objects.

      • Only add missing Tables/Fields/Indexes: Select this option to apply changes only (additions, edits, and deletions). The structure will be updated and existing data will remain for objects that have changed.

To apply changes to all objects, select this option and remove the first option.

      • Drop the previously created object and recreate the objects...: Select this option to delete and recreate objects that were changed since the last validation.

To recreate all objects, select this option and remove the first option.

    • For Migration and Export extraction types, click Validate.

  1. Wait for the process to be done. A validation report is displayed to give you a quick overview once the process is finished. The results are displayed in the Status column. If there is an error, click the hyperlink in the Error column to view the Log Page.
