Prompts

Using Prompts is a powerful way of filtering and selecting specific subsets of data, which will assist the user in accessing a list of all customers; displayed by Customer Code and Customer Name.

Prompts can be set for any column in the Data Model definition. Prompts will not show up if the Data Model Designer is not defined first.

It is also possible to configure the Data Model to automatically display the Prompt window before loading the whole set of data. In addition, the Prompt window offers sorting and search tools to help quickly locate values in the list.

Prompts retrieve data from the Master Tables.

To view prompts:

  1. Right-click a dimension and select Show Prompts.

  2. If Prompts are predefined a new window is displayed.

    1. Select a customer by clicking on his line (the line will turn blue when the selection is active).

    2. To determine how the value in the filter is applied, use the Filter Method drop-down list. The available options are: Starting with, Anywhere, Exact Value and Use Wild Cards.

    3. To filter the Prompt List to display only rows with specified values, use the Filter For field.

    Tip

Data for more than one customer can be selected and viewed simultaneously by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking on specified customers.

  3. Click Confirm to view only the corresponding data for that particular customer.
Example

After selecting a few companies, only those companies will appear in the Worksheet.

Tip

It is possible to sort the list by clicking a column header (example: Customer Name).

To retrieve a list: erase the filter for the chosen cells and click Enter.
