Install DataSync

Before installation, make sure that the WebDav Publishing feature is not enabled in Windows Features or Server Manager.

To install , locate your installation folder and run either Nectari DataSync.exe or SEI DataSync.exe, depending on your product name. Then follow the steps below.

Installation steps

  1. Run the Nectari/SEI DataSync setup and click Next.
    If the installer detects missing prerequisites, follow the prompts to download and install them before continuing.
  2. Accept the license agreement by selecting I have read and accept the Software License and Subscription Terms, then click Next.
  3. On the Select Installation Folder screen, accept the default location or choose another folder, then click Next.
  4. Choose whether to use HTTP or HTTPS (secure connection) for DataSync web access.
  5. In the Host Name field, enter the address for accessing DataSync:
    • For HTTP connections: enter a name such as datasyncserver (e.g., http://datasyncserver:8134).
    • For HTTPS connections: enter a fully qualified domain name (e.g., datasync.mycompanydomain.com).
      To use HTTPS, ensure your domain is linked to a valid certificate and that port 443 is available.
  6. In the Web Access, Authentication, Scheduler, and Sync port fields, make sure the default ports are not in use. Change them if necessary.
  7. Click Next.
  8. In the Server field, select the SQL Server instance where you want the DataSync database.
  9. Enter the database administrator Username and Password.
  10. In the Database dropdown, select or enter the database name for DataSync. Click Fetch to retrieve available SQL Server instances and databases.
  11. Click Next.
  12. On the SMTP Server Settings screen, enter the following:
    • Sender Email: The address used for automatic DataSync emails.
    • SMTP Server: Your company’s mail server (used for notifications, user creation, and password resets).
    • Port: Enter the SMTP port number.
    • Enable Use TLS/SSL if required for your mail server.
    • Select Basic Authentication or OAuth Authentication.
  13. If you selected OAuth Authentication, select Next, and then enter:
    • Client ID: The Application (client) ID from Microsoft Entra ID.
    • Client Secret: The client secret value from Microsoft Entra ID.
    • Token Endpoint: The token endpoint for your tenant (for example, https://login.microsoftonline.com/<TENANT_ID>/oauth2/v2.0/token).
    • Scope: For Exchange Online SMTP, enter https://outlook.office365.com/.default.

  14. Click Next.
  15. Click Install to begin the installation.
  16. Click Finish when installation is complete.

Uninstall DataSync

note

Do not uninstall DataSync if you plan to upgrade—this will erase your settings. For upgrade instructions, see Update DataSync.

To uninstall DataSync

  1. Open Windows Settings menu and navigate to Apps (or Apps & Features, depending on your Windows version).
  2. Locate Nectari DataSync in the list of installed applications.
  3. Select it and click Uninstall.
