Mandatory Parameters

The Manage Mandatory Parameters feature is used to determine whether a value has to be selected in order to open the data model using the Link to functionality.

As an example you can force the user to select a Company when linking to another data model. If the user was trying to link to a Product Number, they will also be forced to select a Company.

This feature is useful when you want to be sure that all required values related to a specific index structure are used.

In certain databases such as DB2, if the order of the fields defined in the index is not met, a temporary index is created (which can take more time). If you know that all indexes begin with the Company field, you may prefer that the user is forced to select at least the Company before linking to another data model.

To manage mandatory parameters:

  1. Select the option from the Tools drop-down menu or by clicking Manage Mandatory Parameters in the toolbar.
  2. Select the field you want to make mandatory and click OK to confirm.
  3. Click on OK to confirm.
