Balance Sheet
The Balance Sheet workbook shows a standard balance sheet for a selected fiscal period, with actual vs. budget figures for both the current year and the prior year. The two-year layout shows how assets, liabilities, and equity have shifted from one year to the next, and how each year tracks against its budget.
Selection page
When you open the workbook, the Selection Page appears before the balance sheet loads. Fiscal Year, Fiscal Period, and Budget are required fields and must be completed before you can proceed. All other filters are optional and help you narrow the results.
- Company: the company to report on.
- Fiscal Year: the fiscal year the balance sheet reports on. (required)
- Fiscal Period: the period within that fiscal year used as the cutoff for balances. (required)

Balance sheet report
The report shows account balances organized into Assets, Liabilities, and Equity. Results are presented side by side for the current year and the prior year, each showing the same four columns.
- Actual: the posted balance of each account as of the selected period.
- Budget: the budgeted balance for the same period.
- Var $: the dollar difference between actual and budget, calculated as Actual minus Budget.
- Var %: the percentage difference between actual and budget, calculated as (Var $ / Budget) × 100.
Mapping
The balance sheet is organized into sections such as Current Assets, Liabilities, and Equity. Each section is linked to a Sage 100 account group, which determines which accounts appear in that section and how totals are calculated. You typically only need to update this mapping if your account groups differ from the default setup, for example if you use different group codes or notice accounts appearing in the wrong section.
